It is highly recommended that if your son or daughter wants to further their development as a lacrosse player that they tryout to become a member of a local travel team during the summer. The benefits are huge as they will be influenced by different coaches and get to play with kids throughout the area. It develops their skill, confidence and network in a very short period of time. These programs are mainly summer programs, but they offer winter and fall clinics as well.
In order to be a member of one of these clubs you need to try out at the end of the summer session, typically August for the following year… So if you want to be on one of these teams in the summer, you need to try out the previous summer. Seems odd, but that is the model they are all following. If you are late to realizing this, I am sure if you contact the club of interest, they will make some accommodation for you. If you want to see more information about these clubs, please click the blue link that describes them below. We have Columbia Lacrosse Club members in all of these programs and they all seem to like where they are.
