Equipment Guide

Purchasing equipment can be a daunting task and can prove to be expensive.  Many of our parents have had success on social media by reaching out to friends and familiy to see if they have equipment they they could have or borrow.  Getting the right equipment that is comfortable and, most importantly, SAFE, is crucial.

Columbia Lacrosse Club is not responsible for injuries that happen during the game of lacrosse while using
recommended pieces of equipment from this page or a Club member.

Please see below for our recommendations for both girls and boys equipment. Also, click on the logo's below for recommended websites to help educate and purchase.

Lacrosse Sticks

When it comes to lacrosse equipment, the lacrosse stick is the most important piece. There is plenty of junk out there that requires a lot of adjustment to throw correctly. This can cause frustration and ultimately an early exit from the game. The following lacrosse sticks are what we recommend for beginner to intermediate players.  They require minimal adjustment and will last for a while.

Boys Lacrosse Stick
StringKing Intermediate Complete 2 Attack Lacrosse Stick

Helmets

We find that "adult" helmets are the way to go for most kids age 8 and up.  The youth helmets are good, but tend to be really small and kids can grow out of them quickly.  They all come as one size fits all, as they have adjustable ear pads and rear panel.  We suggest going to a store like Dick's and trying them on for size before making a purchase.  If you do opt to go for an adult helmet, we sell them with decals for $250 ($350 retail).

Youth Helmet - Cascade CS-R

Goggles/Headgear

Goggles are for the girls game and there are a few options here.  Becoming more popular are the helmets. They protect the head and have built in eye protection.  However, regular goggles are still the most common choice for our players.

Mouth Guards

SISU Mouth Guards have a wide variety of protection levels, and colors.  They are moldable and some can even be remolded.

Less Bulky (good for youth) - Aero Guard
More Protection - Max Guard or 3D Custom Fit Guard

Shoulder Pads, Elbow Pads and Gloves

Shoulder pads, gloves and elbow pads or needed for the boys game. Shoulder pads has recently gone through a new mandate and need to have the NOCSAE logo and be SEI Certified to be legal for play. Please be careful when borrowing or purchasing them - READ THIS FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Gloves and elbow pads are also items that need to be tried on for the most comfortable fit.  Dick's has some good options for packages.  There is really no real recommendation for these... just what feels decent to wear.  These items may be bought as a package or individually.
